Beginning March 17, 2020, and until further notice Georgetown Divide Public Utility District (GDPUD) will be closing its main lobby to the public due to COVID-19 virus concerns.  GDPUD takes the health and safety of its customers and its staff very seriously and we will do everything in our control to maintain a safe and health work environment.

We remain available to serve you at 530-333-4356 x 107.  Customers can still pay their water bill on site by placing their payment in the overnight drop box located by the front door of our Administrative Office building (6425 Main St.,  Georgetown, CA 95634).

As such, we wanted to share with you information from the World Health Organization (WHO) about the effectiveness of current water treatment methods such as chlorination, which is used by GDPUD, in protecting water supplies.

The World Health Organization (WHO) released a technical brief on March 3, 2020, which noted that, “The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies, and based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low.”

As always, your tap water is available, plentiful and safe. GDPUD’s State-certified operators continue to treat and test the water as well as maintain and monitor the water system overall. This is how we will continue to ensure that our customers receive the same high quality water and service that they have come to expect.

Moreover, this health outbreak is not expected to disrupt service to our customers.

GDPUD staff will continue to monitor the evolving situation involving the COVID-19 virus. Our first commitment and priority is the safety of the public and employees while maintaining the delivery of high-quality and reliable water supplies.
